Pre-game Night Encounters Empty Pre-game Night Encounters

Post  girdnas Wed Jun 26, 2013 12:06 am

I need to know what you guys want to do after you leave the building to camp. If possible, I want to handle night encounters before our next game, so I need to know what the group does.

Where do you camp? If you travel away from the building, how far and in what direction?

What is watch order?

What are the camp details? Light sources? Who is in tents? (the last acid rain destroyed Marad's tent, so I think that leaves 2)

Do you do anything else special when setting camp?

Feel free to discuss below and decide amongst each other exactly what you do when you leave the building.

Zuek would set up his tent and sleep for 2 hours just like before and would wake up during the middle of the first watch and relieve one of sentries. let me know if theres any issues with this. Personally i think we should try and camp near the entrance so we can watch for anyone exiting.

Omian would either take first or second watch, not really doing much else.

Does Professor Freeze have Rope Trick Available? I suggest we sleep in there with watch keepers outside.

I'll take the first or last watch (like the rest of the spell casters.)

I need to rest so first or last watch for me. I do have rope trick and I believe we were going to place it in a corner of the building. Part of a 90 degree angle or something so the rope may blend in with the angle/corner. It will last 7 hours.

Your group sets camp up outside. At this point, you are all too mentally and physically exhausted from trudging the miles of this dead plain to care about modesty and you each strip down to near nothing to rinse off before bed.The casters use several prestidigitations as well, removing the dust from your clothing and gear. All of you know it is only a brief respite; even within the Rope Trick you are not free of it. Despite the magical relief, your mouths still taste like you've been chewing chalk and chafing skin from where the powdery dirt snuck into every crease is treated by Omian as you all eat your conjured fare. Each of you know you would be dead without even one of your companions, and the threat of a fate worse than death eats at your resolve. Even when you sleep, you are on edge, and more than once awaken with your heart in your throat, thinking you hear the shrill cries of Screamers, or something worse, then realizing it was just a dream.

Marad, Wedge and Omian take first watch, while the others hide within the extradimensional space near a corner of the building. Night has not yet fallen as they sit warily, ears straining to hear anything that might break the monotony of the moaning wind that grieves over the Ashen Waste. From far out in the barren wasteland, they hear a single howl that seems to go on and on, coming closer and receding, perhaps a trick of the wind. Then another answers, definitely nearer. Marad's hound startles you with a baying howl in return, before being hushed by Marad. By then, the receding light has turned the landscape and sky an unbroken grey haze, swiftly turning to menacing black. Shapes move at the edge of your vision, but before you can raise an alarm, they disappear. Nothing else occurs for the rest of the first watch, though the hulking wardog occasionally lifts his head and growls as if hearing something you cannot.

Waking Zuek, the two casters climb the rope to their dusty bed. Marad stays up and wakes Dismass not long after, who joins Zuek for the darkest hours of the night. Warning of the howls and figures in the haze keep them alert, but they see and hear nothing. Even the wind dies down somewhat, letting the ever-present dust settle, and the sky shows briefly through, twinkling stars reminding them both of places they would rather be, places not tainted by fell magic and death.

Dismass wakes Bicto during the last hour of the spells duration, and everyone climbs down to spend the last few hours of night within the tents, coughing bonedust from their lungs and sleeping fitfully at best. The heat starts as soon as the sun begins to rise, as if the haze magnifies it. The same food as dinner serves as breakfast, and after more prestidigitation to yet again temporarily remove the dust from you, you don your gear, and again turn your attention to the tomb.

"After we explore this place" Bikto says as he itches the bandages on his face, "perhaps we shoudl head back to the camp and see if ther eare anymore locations like this one to look into in the Ashen Waste.  I'll let you handle that" he says with a loud sigh.

"I'll just be therefor more support.  I just ask you keep it short." Probably ask thief life stofy.. he mutters under his breath.

He then casts Endure Elements and Mage armor on himself.
